California Southern California Edison is planning to decommission Units 2 and 3 of the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in Oceanside. Illinois The Illinois Dept. of Transportation and CSX Transportation are planning a grade separation project at Western Avenue between 135th and 136th streets in Blue Island, which is one of the components of Project CREATE. The project team will build either an overpass or an underpass for the three railroad tracks, thereby eliminating the potential for collisions between vehicles and trains. New York The Hudson Cos., a developer, has been selected by the Brooklyn Public Library's board of trustees to redevelop the Brooklyn Heights branch library. The project entails demolishing the existing 60,000-sq-ft building at 280 Cadman Plaza West and constructing a 130-unit luxury apartment building containing the reconfigured library in 20,000 sq ft. The existing library building contains two library branches: the local branch library and the county's business library. Only the local branch will reoccupy the new space, while the business branch will be relocated to the Brooklyn Central Library. The new building is being designed by Marvel Architects. Ohio Erie Terminal LLC is planning to convert the Stambaugh Building, located at 44 East Federal St. in Youngstown, into a 120-room hotel. The 12-story building, built in 1907, was designed by architect Albert Kahn and housed, until 1958, the headquarters of Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. Texas Sam Houston State University is planning to build the Sycamore Vivarium, an animal testing lab, on the campus in Huntsville.
