Washington 8/1 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bidders to carry out the Lower Granite Juvenile Fish Facility upgrades. The work will modify the existing juvenile fish transportation system from a pressure-pipe system to an elevated, open-channel system. Mechanically controlled, 10-in.-dia collection-channel orifices will be enlarged to 14 in., with LED and PLC automated control. Demolition of 1,400 cu yd of concrete is required to enlarge the existing collection channel to 9.5 ft wide and construct a new 6-ft-wide channel through the dam. Steel trusses spanning drilled shaft columns will support the channel, the primary dewatering structure and the juvenile transportation flume.
