California The Sacramento Municipal Utility District is planning to build the 400-MW Iowa Hill Pumped Storage Facility at Pollock Pines. The facility will consist of a 200-ft-tall, 5,900-ft-long earth- and rock-fill dam and a 1,000-ft-deep shaft through 3,500 ft of tunnels carrying water from the reservoir to an underground powerhouse. Illinois Coldwell Banker is planning to convert the former Pickens-Kane Moving & Storage building in Chicago into a research center for digital manufacturing technology. The six-story, 285,000-sq-ft building, located at 909 Bliss St. on Goose Island, will house UI Labs, a research and commercialization collaborative between several universities and major companies. The lab will apply mobile, cloud and high-performance computing technologies to manufacturing challenges, reducing costs through greater use of technology, from robotics to visualization. Kentucky CSX Transportation Inc., is planning to build a new rail inspection yard in Hopkinsville. The facility will stage trains for inspection and fueling, and will support coal trains servicing Kentucky mines.
