Three mid-rise buildings spanning 591,000 sq ft comprise one of UCLA’s latest student housing facilities. The complex features apartment-style units and reached completion in October 2022.

Arson caused a two-alarm fire that destroyed the wooden-framed 56-unit, $5.5-million apartment complex in the early stages of construction, the Fort Worth Fire Dept. ruled.

Working in a densely populated area of Cambridge posed many challenges for this restoration project, including constructing an apartment building to Passive House standards, working with challenging soil conditions and managing odd geometries at a site near other residential properties.

The abandoned former Cook County Hospital building was a wreck. “The term ‘fully depreciated’ was an understatement,” says Kenneth Johnston, senior project manager with Walsh Construction.

After sitting vacant for nearly 15 years, the iconic Flashcube building in downtown Kansas City is once again lighting up the neighborhood.<
