As the 117th Congress headed into its final days, infrastructure advocates scored another legislative victory with bipartisan congressional approval of a new Water Resources Development Act, or WRDA, authorizing $37.8 in federal funds for 30 new or modified U.S. Army Corps of Engineers storm protection, harbor dredging and other civil-works projects.

Update: House passes WRDA-DOD package, sending it to Senate.

The measure was approved with a strong, bipartisan 384-37 vote.

The measure approved by the House panel would authorize about $25 billion for new Corps construction projects, including $19.2 billion for a major hurricane and flood protection plan in coastal Texas.

 The committee cleared the new Water Resources Development Act, or WRDA, on May 4, by a 20-0 vote.
