This project adds 8.5 km of dual, four-lane highway and 2.4 km of related carriageways to connect one of Bahrain’s busiest traffic corridors. The team used early planning, around-the-clock operations and precise sequencing to deliver the project in just seven months—eight months ahead of schedule.
Extensive additional scope was added two months into the project, including installing extra sewage lines and widening a connecting road. The team coordinated over 50 subcontractors and 1,500 workers at the project’s peak.
To prevent traffic disruptions, the team chose a trenchless method, using micro-tunneling to install utilities under active traffic zones. Utilities were integrated in phases, enabling concurrent progress and preventing utility conflicts.
Safety was a priority—especially navigating Bahrain’s extreme summer heat. The team recorded over 2.5 million worker hours without a lost-time incident.
