The new home of Drexel’s College of Medicine and the College of Nursing and Health Professionals totals 12 stories—with a MEP penthouse that spans two more levels—and totals 494,688 sq ft. Inside are 178,500 sq ft of classroom space, 98,700 sq ft of office/support space and 87,000 sq ft of lab/simulation space.
Located on Pittsburgh’s historic “Automobile Row,” where Model Ts were assembled, sold and serviced, the vacant Ford Motor plant was repurposed into a research facility.
Construction Inclusion Week, set for Oct. 16-20, has more than 5,000 contractor and other participants signed up this year; while leaders on Oct. 3 launched AEC Unites, a nonprofit focused on recruitment of Black professionals and sustained hiring of Black-owned companies.
