ENR presents the winners of our first-ever Global Best Projects competition. A panel of industry veterans chose the projects on the following pages as outstanding examples of the challenges, risks and rewards of designing and building internationally. 

The judges looked at projects in a variety of markets, from education to bridges, and examined their safety, innovations, challenges and design and construction quality—putting special emphasis on global diversity of project teams and how well members worked together.

Judges also singled out two Projects of the Year, opposites in terms of size and scale, as particularly innovative examples of global design and construction. These two projects excelled in all five judging criteria and demonstrate the past year's best achievement in worldwide project excellence.

All of the project winners will be honored during the ENR 2013 Global Construction Summit, to be held on June 6-7 in New York City.
