Now the largest hospital in the city of Doboj, this new medical facility replaces one originally built in 1952 and has a capacity for 20% more patients than the older one. The goal of this project was to build a modern hospital that can meet all medical needs.
The structure features 455 beds, including 48 in the intensive care unit, as well as nine operating rooms, with one designated for emergencies. The structure is equipped to handle a full range of specialties, including oncology, pediatrics, cardiology and neurology. Additionally, the hospital includes an MRI unit, a CT scanner and a mammography unit.
During construction, the project team faced supply chain and inflation challenges caused by two major worldwide events: the COVID-19 pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine. To stay on schedule, a six-month supply of materials was maintained to avoid downtime during construction.
The team also reduced its management staff and streamlined the schedule to ensure maximum productivity. Along with an 18-month extension, this allowed the project to be completed within the new timeframe of 51 months.
