Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems is planning to construct a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Power County. The Power County Combined-Cycle Plant project scope includes design and construction of building space and equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel and fuel storage tanks; and purchase and installation of combustion and steam turbines, heat-recovery steam generators, electrical generators, transformers, switchgear and selective catalytic reduction and other air emissions control equipment and systems. The plant will have the capacity to generate 360 MW of electric power. Long-lead equipment procurement and detailed design are expected to begin in 2027. Construction is expected to begin in 2029. Illinois
Fufeng USA Inc. is considering construction of a wet corn milling facility at the former Equistar Chemicals site in Tuscola. A site in Grand Forks, N.D., had previously been considered. The project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; and purchase and installation of stainless steel tanks and piping, process vessels, fermentation tanks and extraction, purification and packaging equipment and systems. The plant would have the capacity to process 25 million bushels of corn per year to produce amino acids for use in animal feed. The company will select a firm to provide preconstruction services from a predefined shortlist. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2025, pending site acquisition. North Dakota
Agristo is planning to construct a potato processing facility on a 350-acre site in Grand Forks. The project’s scope includes design and construction of building space as well as the purchase and installation of automated conveyors, stainless steel tanks and piping, and potato receiving and storage, cleaning, peeling, slicing, cutting, mixing, coating, frying, quick freezing and packaging equipment and systems. Construction is expected in 2026. Belgium-based Agristo will use the plant to produce frozen potato products, including fries and hash browns. Ohio
Givaudan Flavors Corp. is planning to construct a liquid compounding facility on a 25-acre site at Centennial Park in Reading. The project scope includes construction of a 100,000-sq-ft building; and purchase and installation of stainless steel tanks and piping, automated conveyors, and mixing, blending, ingredient dispensing, filling and packaging equipment and systems. Construction is expected to begin in the second or third quarter of 2025. Switzerland-based Givaudan, with North American headquarters in Cincinnati, produces food dyes and fragrances. Oklahoma
Comstock Fuels is planning to construct a demonstration-scale renewable fuels refinery at an unselected site in Oklahoma. The project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of a lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment system, storage tanks, heat exchangers, process vessels and biomass handling, flow control and loadout equipment and systems. The plant will have the capacity to process 75,000 metric tons of biomass per year to produce sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel and other fuels. Utah
Nucor Towers & Structures, a division of Nucor Corp., is planning to construct a tubular steel structures manufacturing place at Nucor’s campus in Brigham City. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; installation of hot-dip galvanizing equipment; and purchase and installation of overhead cranes, chemical storage tanks and automated fabrication, cutting and drilling equipment and systems. Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor will manage construction. A construction schedule is being developed. The facility will be used for the production of engineered and light duty poles, substation structures and transmission towers for the utility industry. Wisconsin
Eli Lilly and Co. is planning to construct a pharmaceutical plant in Bristol, on a site adjacent to the plant it acquired from Nexus Pharmaceuticals in Pleasant Prairie in April 2024. The project scope includes construction of building space; and purchase and installation of guided vehicles, robotics, digital automation, stainless steel piping, fume hoods and wet laboratory, filtration, automated fill-finish, testing, sterilization, syringe assembly, labeling and packaging equipment and systems. Construction is expected to begin in 2025; project completion is expected in 2028. Eli Lilly will use the plant to produce injectable medicines for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
