AstraZeneca is planning to establish a cell therapies plant in Rockville. The project scope includes fitout of an 84,000-sq-ft building with cleanroom space, and purchase and installation of stainless steel piping, freezers, fume hoods, bioreactor instrumentation, air handling, sterilization and packaging equipment. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026. AstraZeneca will use the plant to produce T-cell therapies for clinical trials. The estimated EPC cost is $300 million. Leonardo DRS is planning to construct a defense systems manufacturing and assembly plant at Bushy Park in Goose Creek. The project scope includes construction of a 140,000-sq-ft building, and purchase and installation of parts storage, machining, assembly and testing equipment and systems. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026. Stantec has been selected to provide civil engineering and architectural design services, and Evans General Contractors has been named the general contractor. WASHINGTON
Microsoft Corp. is planning to construct data centers on a 120-acre site in East Wenatchee. The EAT06 and EAT09 data center project scope includes construction of two interconnected single-story buildings totaling 250,530 sq ft, and purchase and installation of power redundancy, continuous power and power distribution systems, standby power generators, underfloor cable pathways and overhead cable trays, data and voice patch panels, a fiber optic backbone, security systems, high-output cooling systems, power cabling, circuit breakers, isolators, transformers and switchgear. Environmental Systems Design Inc. has been selected to provide engineering services, and Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects, a Woolpert company, has been selected to provide design services for the buildings. Site work is underway for EAT06; the building is expected to be completed in early 2026. A construction schedule for EAT09 has not been developed.
