CALIFORNIA

Aemetis Inc. plans to construct a renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel plant at the 125-acre Riverbank Industrial Complex in Riverbank. The plant will process forest and orchard wood and have the capacity to produce 45 million gallons of renewable fuels per year. The Carbon Zero 1 project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; fabrication and erection of storage and denaturant tanks; installation of a proprietary gas bioreactor, separation and gasification systems; and purchase and installation of conveyors, a cooling tower, a boiler, a dryer, a diesel-fired generator set, a firewater pump engine, a thermal oxidizer, baghouses, and flaring and flow control equipment. CTCI Americas Inc. is providing EPC services for the project. Axens North America is providing process technology and Worley is providing engineering and technical services for the Axens technology. GEORGIA

Nexus Circular, formerly Nexus Fuels LLC, plans to establish a plastic waste pyrolysis plant in McDonough. Project scope includes fitout of a 570,586-sq-ft building; construction of a spill-containment system and pyrolysis reactors; installation of process vessels, bins, rotary dryers and manual and automatic sorting equipment and systems; and purchase and installation of supporting equipment. Construction is expected to begin in late first or second quarter 2023. Nexus will use the plant to process waste plastics to produce broad-spectrum feedstocks and fuels. INDIANA

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) is planning to construct a natural gas-fired peaking unit at its R.M. Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield. Project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel and storage tanks; and purchase and installation of simple-cycle combustion turbines or reciprocating internal-combustion engines, a cooling tower, a compressed air system, an emergency generator, transformers, switchgear, and selective catalytic reduction and oxidation catalyst equipment. The unit will have the capacity to generate 370 MW to 450 MW of electric power. Charles River Associates is providing consulting services for the evaluation of EPC bid proposals; an EPC firm will be selected from a list of three. Construction is expected to begin in 2024. KENTUCKY

Lotte Aluminum Materials USA LLC plans to construct an aluminum rolling mill on a 40-acre site at the T.J. Patterson Industrial Park in Elizabethtown. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; installation of four slitter machines, two roll grinders, a scrap aluminum baler, air scrubbers, heat exchangers and six rolling mills with storage tanks, process vessels, capture hoods, and oil recovery and spraying equipment. The facility will have the capacity to produce 39,690 tons of aluminum coil per year for use as cathodes in electronic vehicle batteries. TENNESSEE

SK Food Group plans to construct a sandwich production facility at the Spring Branch Industrial Park in Cleveland. Project scope includes construction of a 525,000-sq-ft building; and purchase and installation of freezers, coolers, automated conveyors, and ingredient storage and dispensing, food preparation, cutting, and packaging equipment. Tippmann Group has been selected as the design-builder. Construction is expected to begin in third or fourth quarter 2023. The estimated EPC cost is $205.2 million. TENNESSEE

Linde plc is planning to construct an air separation plant in Charleston. Project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; installation of a cryogenic heat exchanger and process vessels; and purchase and installation of process piping, evaporators, gas storage tanks, compressors, and filtering and dehydration equipment. Construction is expected to begin in late 2023 or in 2024. The plant is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. Linde will use the plant to produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon. WASHINGTON

Salmon Evolution plans to construct a salmon aquaculture facility at an undisclosed site in Washington State. Possible sites on the west and east coasts of the northern U.S. and in Canada are also being considered. Project scope includes construction of a building and rearing tanks; purchase and installation of fiberglass troughs, incubator boxes, stainless steel tanks and piping, conveyors, a recirculating aquaculture system, and stunning, cutting, cleaning, refrigeration and packaging equipment. The facility will have the capacity to produce 32,000 metric tons of gutted salmon per year. A construction schedule will be developed following finalization of site selection, expected in 2025.
