California Oceanus Power & Water, LLC is considering constructing a pumped storage hydroelectric power plant and a desalination facility at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Integrated Pumped Hydroelectric Reverse Osmosis Clean Energy System project scope includes design and construction of equipment foundations, a powerhouse, a concrete dam for an upper reservoir, a spillway, tailraces, a desalination plant and a seawater intake structure; purchase and erection of structural steel and brine storage tanks; and purchase and installation of two 75-MW reversible pump-turbine units, two 4,150-yard-long, 3,400-millimeter-diameter steel penstocks. The power plant will have the capacity to generate 150 MW of electric power. The desalination plant will have the capacity to treat 25 million gallons of water per day. Ohio DuPont is planning to expand its specialty films plant in Circleville. The project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel and storage tanks; and purchase and installation of process reactors and polymerization and extrusion equipment. The company expects to select an EPC firm from a shortlist of three for the project in early April 2019. Construction is expected to begin in September 2019.
