Caterpillar Inc.; 309/675-8995; www.cat.com GloBug light towers are designed for use on construction job sites and at a wide variety of entertainment and special events. They illuminate to distances in excess of 150 ft and are offered as a stand-alone unit, or with a cart for an optional generator. The light towers have maximum mast heights of 13 ft and 16 ft, respectively, and come standard with a water-resistant balloon. The 9.5-amp units use 120-volt power and come standard with a protective canvas cover to protect the GloBug when it is not in use. A 1,000-Watt metal halide lamp provides the glare-free illumination. Manufacturer has upgraded four of its CX compact excavators to be Tier 2 certified. Models CX27B, CX31B, CX36B and CX50B now feature an overall 19% increase in engine horse power, 15% increase in hydraulic flow and 14% increase in hydraulic horse power. The machines are easier to maintain and service, with swing-out access panels and ground-line fluid fills, says the company. The BL2000 balloon light is a self-inflating illumination unit versatile enough to be used for a variety of applications, including construction, disaster relief, drilling, guard rail installation, landscaping, paving, road repair and more. The balloon light weighs less than 40 lb and diffuses a glare-free light over a 360 area, the maker says. It has a diameter of 43.3 in. and when placed on an optional mounting system stands 7.5 to 15 ft tall, covering up to 15,000-sq ft radius. Its 2,000 Watts of power are supplied by either a 10-amp, 230-Volt source for one lamp or a 20-amp, 110-Volt source for two lamps. The unit inflates in less than one minute, providing instant illumination once fully inflated and resists wind speeds up to63 miles per hour. The S205 skid-steer loader is made for contractors looking for optimal power in a compact machine, the company says. This new vertical lift path machine is 66 in. wide (60 in. wide with optional offset rims), with a 2050-lb rated operating capacity. Features include a 118.2-in. height that provides the operator with better lift height and reach for truck loading, as well as more lift capacity for moving building materials and supplies. In addition, the low-profile, vertical-path lift arm design offers good visibility to key areas during operation. The S205 offers 16.3-gallon per-minute hydraulic flow and is powered by a turbo-charged, liquid-cooled, 61-hp diesel engine. Model 345C L, the new C-Series excavator, features the Cat C13 engine with ACERT Technology for powerful, reliable performance and reduced emissions. The C13 helps boost engine horsepower 7.5%, compared to the 345 B Series II, which the 345C L replaces. A new operator station with improved interior creates an environment for improved operator performance and comfort. The 345C L also has multiple bucket attachment options available to provide better machine versatility.
