Insulating Panels
A new manufacturing technology helps solve the challenges of adding insulating foam to precast concrete wall panels, making the Versa Core line the first hollow-core product to cast in window and door openings. In addition to design flexibility, the new line also improves heating and cooling efficiency up to 30%. The VersaCore process puts insulating expanded polystyrene foam billets directly into the wet concrete, eliminating the cost of the gravel and equipment to remove it. The panels with foam billets weigh less than hollow-core and offer one of the highest R-value ratings available in a concrete panel, says the provider. FABCON INC.; 952/882-7234; www.fabcon-usa.com

Steel Support Frame
Portadam's portable, temporary cofferdam, stream diversion system and fluid retention basin is environmentally safe. It is used for all types of construction, rehabilitation, flood protection and inspection projects in rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, canals and other retaining areas up to 12 ft deep. By using a free-standing steel support system and impermeable liner system, the Portadam technique allows many variations of in-water projects to be accomplished in a dry condition without the need for excavation, pile-driving equipment, earth fill or sandbag dikes, the company says.
