House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman James Oberstar (D-Minn.) expects a floor vote in mid-March on a bill to make technical corrections to the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act—A Legacy for Users.
Oberstar’s panel on March 1 cleared a bill making changes in more than 220 projects, giving some more money and deleting others. The measure has a six-month extension for a much-awaited transportation finance study. The new deadline would be Dec. 31. Transportation groups also like the provisions amending SAFETEA-LU’s research title. There has not yet been any Senate action. The House passed corrections bills last year, but the Senate did not agree.
