Santa Ana-based Sukut Construction, Inc., in a joint venture with Flatiron West Inc. of San Marcos, was awarded a $57 million contract by Caltrans to construct the final segment of California Route 905 in San Diego County. Work is scheduled to begin in mid-June and be completed in early 2011.

The finished 905 Freeway will be a 12-mile route to facilitate primarily truck traffic between California and Mexico from the Otay Mesa border crossing northwest to Interstate 5.

The contract calls for construction of five bridges and the final 2.5 mis of a four-lane freeway. Sukut�s portion of the contract totals $20 million and includes site preparation, construction of retaining walls, and installation of underground infrastructure.
