Under new Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D), the Resilient Environments and Landscapes rule (REAL) now has one-year reprieve from July 20 before it mandates higher shorebuilding elevations and other requirements for high-risk area—giving pro and con forces more time to battle over likely amendments.
