The completed deal in Italy follows the acquired firm's bankruptcy filing in 2017.

Recapitalization would enable Milan-based Salini to purchase 65% stake in bankrupt Astaldi and spend $325 to settle debt.

The contractor, which filed for creditor protection last October, informed the Florida Dept. of Transportation of its voluntary default on March 28.

Astaldi has operated under court protection while trying to raise capital.
