Two sustainability experts have once again judged the sustainability entries as part of the 2024 ENR New England Best Projects awards.

The Sustainability Award winners are honored as part of the Best Projects 2024 awards event on Nov. 22 in Boston. For more information on the event visit: https://www.enr.com/enr-best-projects-awards/boston

All of the Best Project winners and Award of Merit winners will be honored at the event and profiled more in depth in the November issue of ENR New England.

For the sustainability award, our expert judged the projects based on their sustainability information, which includes the project's overall sustainability strategy, choice of materials, energy savings, etc., as described in an essay question. While major green designations like LEED and WELL are preferable, they are not absolutely critical. Our judge also considered how well the project team went above and beyond baseline industry requirements on the submitted project. Entries that clearly identify the strategies that led to excellent sustainability results were scored higher than more general responses.

The sustainability judges were Josh Rollins, marketing director, pursuit marketing at Suffolk and Nate Russo, civil engineer at AECOM.
