The $3 million cable-stay bridge provides a pedestrian crossing over the Arizona Canal from the Waterfront District on the north to Old Town on the south, just west of Scottsdale and Camelback roads.
The Tempe office of McCarthy Building Cos. will substantially complete the East Basins Reconstruction Project at the Deer Valley Water Treatment Plant as scheduled on Nov. 8. On that date, water will flow into the distribution system from the 100-million-gallon-per-day facility at 3030 W. Dunlap Ave. in north Phoenix. Construction manager-at-risk McCarthy was given notice to proceed on pre-construction from the city of Phoenix in June 2006 and for construction in March 2008. Wright Constructors began work in March on the $3-million Soleri Bridge and Plaza in downtown Scottsdale, Ariz. Local firms Douglas Architects, structural engineer PK Associates and landscape architect Steve Martino & Associates worked on the design with Soleri’s Cosanti Foundation, Paradise Valley. CityScape � the largest private investment in downtown Phoenix history � is nearing completion of the $400-million phase one. Upon build-out, the $980-million, 2.5-million-sq-ft, mixed-use project will unite three city blocks, First Avenue to Second Street and Jefferson to Washington streets. The lead team includes the Phoenix offices of RED Development and the Barron Collier Co.; the architect, Seattle-based Callison; and the Phoenix offices of Hunt Construction and the Weitz Co. As part of phase one, Weitz is completing the 115,325-sq-ft retail component west of Central Avenue on the former Patriot�s Park plaza and above the five-level city parking structure.
