Dirt and Paving Contractors Inc. The $2.2-million safety improvement project added three westbound passing lanes and two for eastbound traffic. The existing highway was widened in sections ranging from 1.25 to 2 mi.
Austin-based Peter R. Brown Construction Inc. recently won a $32.3-million design-build contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fort Worth District for a three-story, 240-unit modular building, which will be occupied by 480 enlisted soldiers at Fort Hood when complete in April 2011. Fort Hood is the largest active duty armored post in the United States.
