Will Hodges has joined Cadence McShane Construction Co., the Dallas general contractor and CM, as president. Formerly senior vice president of Adolfson & Peterson Construction, he succeeds Neal L. Harper, who has retired. Cadence McShane is a unit of The McShane Cos., Rosemont, Ill., which is ranked at no. 94 on ENR's list of the Top 400 Contractors.

 

HODGES

Austin Industries, also a Dallas-based contractor, announces key succession-related executive promotions, to take effect on Nov. 29. The firm elevated David B. Walls to president and CEO, to succeed Ronald J. Gafford, who will remain chairman. Walls has been president of corporate unit Austin Commercial since 1996. Named to succeed him is William McAdoo, who has been unit senior vice president in the central and South Texas region and with the firm since 1979, when he joined as a project engineer. With $1.5 billion in 2011 revenue, the corporation, which includes units Austin Bridge & Road and Austin Industrial, ranks at no. 33 on ENR's list of the Top 400 Contractors. Walls also is a board member of TEXO, a large association of commercial contractors in North and East Texas.

W. Merritt King has joined KCI Technologies Inc., the Sparks, Md., transportation engineer, as vice president and regional practice leader based in Rock Hill, S.C. The new role follows KCI's Oct. 18 acquisition of Triplett-King & Associates Inc., a structural engineer of which he was president and co-founder. About 45 employees have joined KCI in Rock Hill and Raleigh, N.C.

 

MERTZLUFFT

Guarantee Electrical Co., a St. Louis electrical contractor, has named Doug Mertzlufft president. Formerly executive vice president, he retains his role as chief financial officer. The firm ranks at no. 131 on ENR's list of the Top 600 Speciality Contractors. It reported revenue of $136 million for its fiscal year ending Sept. 30

Scott R. Wolford has joined engineering firm Haley & Aldrich Inc., Burlington, Mass., as a senior vice president and Mid-Atlantic practice leader based in McLean, Va. The firm did not disclose his previous employer or title. Haley & Aldrich also named Vice President Lisa Turturro as leader of its healthcare practice. The firm ranks at no. 127 on ENR's list of the Top 500 Design Firms, with $85.5 million in 2011 revenue.

Ed Cettina has been promoted to chief operating officer for the Americas division of Tishman Construction Corp., New York City, and for the construction services practice of its parent firm, AECOM. A 25-year Tishman veteran, he had been executive vice president and regional manager for New Jersey and Pennsylvania. AECOM acquired Tishman in 2010.

 

OVANESSIANS

Samsung Construction & Trading (C&T) Corp., Seoul, has hired Philip Ovanessians as vice president and general manager of global procurement. Based there, he will lead procurement operations outside South Korea, primarily in the Americas, Asia and the Middle East. Ovanessians previously served as manager of procurement services at Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Houston and also was director of material management at Fluor Corp. Samsung C&T ranks at no. 41 on ENR's list of the Top 225 Global Contractors, reporting that $1.57 billion of its $6.2 billion in 2011 revenue was outside South Korea.

Pike Electric Corp., a Mt. Airy, N.C., electrical contractor and energy firm, has named John Thompson president of its engineering unit, Pike Energy Solutions. Pike says he also continues as president of Charlotte, N.C.-based UC Synergetic, an engineering firm that the contractor acquired in July and will integrate into the energy solutions unit. Thompson replaces Jim Hicks, who is leaving Pike Electric, which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and ranks at no.14 on ENR's list of the Top 600 Specialty Contractors.

Insurance broker Ames & Gough, has appointed Amy Hotaling vice president and manager of property-casualty operations. Based in McLean, Va., she had been national director of distribution for the professional services group of insurer RLI, Peoria, Ill. Ames & Gough also named Alyssa Kresge senior account administrator.

Bruce Jones has joined Philadelphia-based design firm Pennoni Associates as chief engineer for water resources. The new role follows the firm's Oct. 17 acquisition of Green Stone Engineering, an environmental and civil specialist in Wilmington, Del., of which he was principal. Jones now is based in Newark, Del.
