Alabama
United States Steel Corp. is planning to construct a quench and tempering line at its Fairfield Tubular Operations plant in Fairfield. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; installation of a Q&T line; and purchase and installation of overhead cranes, air compressors, and other equipment and systems. The project is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2029. U.S. Steel is also expanding its seamless pipe mill in Fairfield and is planning to construct a hot strip mill at its Mon Valley Works’ Edgar Thomson Plant in Braddock, Pa., and a direct reduced iron plant at its mill site in Osceola, Ark. Alaska
Trans-Foreland, a subsidiary of Harvest Midstream, is planning to restart and expand its Kenai LNG Terminal in Nikiski. The Kenai LNG Cool Down project scope includes construction of a power distribution center building and a pump pit; upgrades to process and safety control, steam boiler, power distribution and water treatment systems; installation of six high-pressure cryogenic vertical turbine pumps, five boil-off-gas (BOG) compressors, three BOG aftercoolers and two 100-million-standard-cu-ft submerged combustion vaporizers; and purchase and installation of supporting equipment. Arizona
EVelution Energy is planning to construct a cobalt sulphate plant on a 105-acre site in Wellton. Project scope includes construction of building space; purchase and erection of structural steel, photovoltaic solar panels, transformers and chemical and process water storage tanks; purchase and installation of battery energy storage units, inverters, capacitors, switchgear, meters, regulators, monitoring systems, control panels, overhead cranes, conveyors, process vessels, mixer/settlers, centrifuges, boilers, condensers and solvent extraction, evaporation, crystallization and water treatment equipment. The plant will process cobalt hydroxide and cobalt intermediates to produce battery-grade cobalt sulphate. Early site preparation is complete, and construction is expected to begin in 2027.
