AbbVie Inc. is planning to construct an estimated $1.4-billion pharmaceutical manufacturing campus on a 185-acre site near the Research Triangle Park in Durham. Project scope includes construction of building space with production, laboratory, office and warehouse space; fitout of cleanrooms; and purchase and installation of stainless steel piping, fume hoods, conveyors and testing, air handling, sterilization, filtration, aseptic filling and finishing, labeling and packaging equipment and systems. South Carolina
Santee Cooper is planning to construct a simple-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant at its coal-fired Winyah Generating Station in Georgetown. Scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; erection of structural steel and three fuel oil storage tanks; installation of two aeroderivative simple-cycle combustion turbines and generator sets, water treatment and storage systems, cooling towers, transformers, switchgear and emissions-control equipment. The plant will have capacity to generate 80-120 MW of electric power. Sargent & Lundy has been selected to provide engineering services. Schedules will be developed following regulatory approvals. Texas
X-Energy LLC is planning to construct a small modular reactor nuclear power plant at Dow Chemical’s basic and specialty chemicals plant site in Seadrift. Scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; installation of four SMR reactors; and purchase and installation of cooling towers, energy storage systems, tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, switchgear, air emissions control and other equipment. The plant will have capacity to generate 320 MW of electric power utilizing high-temperature gas reactor technology and proprietary tri-structural isotropic particle fuel. Fluor Corp. has been selected to provide front-end loading stage two services.
