Watch: Restore the George
See the Port Authority’s $2.1B Bridge Rehabilitation Up Close

Now showing on ENR.com/videos, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey brought ENR editors on site recently for an exclusive tour above, below and throughout the George Washington Bridge over the Hudson River.
The 10-plus year restoration project rehabilitates the main cables and encases them in a dehumidification system that will help limit potential corrosion.
The program also replaces 592 suspender ropes and makes security, mobility and safety improvements to the approaches and along the sidewalks over the bridge.
The project team has been surgically performing the work while traffic flows continually over one of the busiest river crossings in the world.
