ARIZONA

The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is planning to carry out a highway improvement project to the West Kingman traffic intersection in Mohave County. The project entails grade-separated ramps to service Interstate 40 westbound to U.S. Route 93 northbound and U.S. Route 93 southbound to I-40 eastbound; widening and rehabilitation of the existing deck at White Cliff Road overpass eastbound; and rehabilitation of the Clack Canyon Wash Bridge deck. INDIANA

EDP Renewables and Northern Indiana Public Service Co. are planning to construct the Carpenter Wind Farm in Carpenter Township in Jasper County. It will include 45 wind turbines and have a generating capacity of 198 MW. Construction is expected to begin in October 2024 and be completed by November 2025. The project is valued at $365 million. MARYLAND

The Maryland Stadium Authority is planning to redevelop Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore. The project entails a new race track, a new right-sized clubhouse and observation tower, stables for approximately 700 horses, a 1,000-seat event space and hotel built by a private partner and a 2,000-space parking garage. NEBRASKA

The State of Nebraska is planning to construct a 4,000-acre sandpit lake/reservoir between Lincoln and Omaha in the Gretna/Ashland area. It will include condominiums and marinas around the lake. The potential location is near Sarpy County’s Linoma Beach, adjacent to the Lower Platte River at Highway 6 and Interstate 80. The project is valued at between $1 billion and $1.4 billion. UTAH

rPlus Energies is planning to construct the closed-loop Oquirrh Pumped Storage Project near Magna and Kearns in Salt Lake County. It will consist of: 1) a 120-ft-high, 4,400-ft-long roller-compacted concrete dam forming a 29-acre upper reservoir with a storage capacity of 3,400 acre-ft; 2) a 220-ft-high, 850-ft-long roller-compacted concrete dam forming a 55-acre lower reservoir with a storage capacity of 3,600 acre-ft; 3) underground tunnels connecting the upper and lower reservoirs consisting of: (a) three 10-ft-dia parallel fiberglass reinforced plastic or steel pipes with a length of 3,300 ft each, (b) three 10-ft-dia, 1,300-ft-high vertical shafts and (c) a 21.9-ft-dia, 3,150-ft-long tailrace tunnel; 4) a powerhouse containing three 166.6-MW reversible pump-turbines/motor generators for a total installed capacity of 500 MW; and 5) an 11-mile-long transmission line connecting to the Rocky Mountain Power’s Oquirrh substation. CONNECTICUT

Spinnaker Real Estate Partners has started building the Eastpointe at Stone Bridge Crossing apartment complex in Cheshire. The ten-building complex, each one four stories, will total 372,000 sq ft. Nine buildings will contain 300 apartments, while the tenth building will be a 7,000-sq-ft clubhouse with a fitness center and a pool. It has been designed by the Sullivan Architectural Group. WASHINGTON

Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 has awarded a design-build contract to Absher Construction to carry out the Ephrata Service Center relocation project in Ephrata. Absher will team up with Integrus Architecture and Huitt-Zollars. The project includes a warehouse and supply yard, electric and telecom shops, transportation shop, lockers for field crews, office space and meeting rooms. 4/23 The Harrison County Board of Education is seeking bidders to build Harrison County High School. The two-story, 216,000-sq-ft building will be located at 320 Webster Ave. in Cynthiana. It is being designed by Summit Architects and Engineers, and Trace Creek Construction Inc. has been chosen as the construction manager. The project is valued at between $25 million and $50 million. 4/30 Coastal Carolina University is seeking bidders to renovate Kimbel Library on the campus in Conway. The project is being designed by Liollio Architecture. The project is valued at between $12 million and $12.2 million.
