The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is planning to construct the Southeast Rome Bypass. The proposed 4.6-mile-long rural four-lane roadway is divided by a 44-ft-wide grassed median with 10-ft-wide outside shoulders of which 6.5 ft will be paved. Bridges are proposed over Callier Springs Road and over U.S. Route 411/State Route 20. A diamond interchange is proposed at U.S. Route 411/State Route 20. The Mayo Foundation is planning to expand the Eisenberg Proton Beam Facility in Rochester.
