On March 19, Southern Co. reported that the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion project team has identified the need for additional construction remediation work at the Georgia construction site. The work, related to electrical commodity installations, is “likely” to result in a delay of “one month or more” to Unit 3’s in-service date, currently set for November. Southern subsidiary Georgia Power estimates any delay in Unit 3’s in-service date will add $25 million per month to the project’s cost.
