Data center construction continues to show strong growth in 2020. Research and Markets forecast in an October report that the data center construction market in the U.S. will realize a 9% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2020 and 2025. Market Study Reports said in October the global market could see 11.2% CAGR during that same period, reaching $34.5 billion, up from $22.6 billion in 2019. Companies like Facebook continue to push ahead with large-scale development plans, including a $1-billion investment to add 1.5 million sq ft at its Newton County, Ga., campus; an $800-million 1-million-sq-ft data center in Gallatin, Tenn.; and an $800-million 907,000-sq-ft project in DeKalb, Ill. DPR Construction is currently working for Facebook at the 130-acre Henrico Data Center Campus near Richmond, Va. Google announced early this year it planned to invest $10 billion in offices and data centers this year, up from the $13 billion it spent in 2019.
