HOK recently designed the $230-million, phased renovation of Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. The existing 27-year-old arena, home to NBA team the Phoenix Suns, is the third oldest arena in the league. The extensive update will create new seating options as well as courtside clubs, three new floor suites, a redesigned Casino Arizona Pavilion, and new bars that integrate into the seating bowl. The new clubs include a 7,500-sq-ft club for ticket holders in the first two rows and two 10,000-sq-ft clubs for others seated in the lower level. A two-story lounge is also being added at the event level. A new videoboard, six times the size of the existing scoreboard, will be hung from the center of the arena. Okland Construction is the general contractor. The first phase is scheduled to start this summer and will focus on renovating the seating bowl area and the pavilion. A second phase could begin during summer 2021 and be completed in time for the 2021-22 season.
