A joint venture of Koch Methanol Investments LLC and Yuhuang Chemical Industries Inc. is currently constructing a $1.85-billion greenfield methanol production facility in St. James Parish, La. The facility, Methanol One, is designed to produce 1.7 million metric tons of methanol per year. Worley, which did not file a survey with ENR this year, was selected to provide integrated project management team services for Phase 1 in December 2014. Methanol is used in plastics, paints, cosmetics and fuels, among other things. In January, Worley reported that construction of the plant is well underway and that the facility is expected to be fully operational and ready for production in late 2020. Worley will provide commissioning and startup services, plant installation verification and equipment testing. Construction of the complex began in January 2017.
