Construction projects start with an idea, but it takes the patience, persistence, and pushing and pulling of great industry leaders to turn those ideas into reality. Every year, ENR salutes these influencers by naming the Top 25 Newsmakers. There are no application forms to fill out or entry fees to pay. The editors of ENR review coverage over the previous year and identify people who stood out by serving the best interests of the construction industry and the public. Of the Top 25, the editors also have selected one individual to receive ENR’s highest honor, the Award of Excellence, which will be presented at a gala event on April 7 at the New York Marriott Marquis. This year’s Newsmakers class showcases the breadth and depth of the global construction industry. This year, for example, we move from a public servant in San Francisco who managed a multibillion-dollar transportation center to a Chicago developer who saved a troubled skyscraper from the wrecking ball to a foundation engineer who designed the supports for the world’s tallest building-to-be in the Middle East.
