Hawaii The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation has selected Perkins + Will to provide architectural and engineering services to design eight stations for the fourth and final phase of the rail transit project to connect Dillingham Blvd. to Ala Moana Center. The Dillingham Station Group includes the Kalihi, Kapalama, Iwilei and Chinatown stations. The Kakaako Station Group includes the Downtown, Civic Center, Kakaako and Ala Moana Center stations. Indiana NIPSCO is planning to build a 100-mile electrical transmission line that will connect NIPSCO's Reynolds Substation, in Reynolds; Burr Oak Substation, in Burr Oak; and Hiple Substation, near Topeka, Ind. New Jersey L+M Development Partners and The Hanini Group LLC are planning to redevelop the former Hahne & Co. department store building in downtown Newark. The five-story, 400,000-sq-ft building was built in 1901 and has been vacant since 1986. The project, called Express Newark, will convert 29,000 sq ft of the first floor into a Whole Foods supermarket and create 182 apartments on the upper floors. Rutgers University will use 57,000 sq ft for studios, classrooms and gallery space for campus arts programs in partnership with Newark artists, schools and other institutions. Texas Huffines Development is planning to build Parker Lakeside, a 593-acre master-planned community in Parker with 1,400 homes. Delaware EDIS Co., serving as construction manager, has started constructing a new building for the Pilot School in Wilmington, a private school for students in grades K-8 with language learning differences. The two-story, 82,540-sq-ft building will contain classrooms, an art wing, computer lab, library, a gym and physical therapy and therapeutic spaces. It was designed by Cho Benn Holback Architects. Georgia Kajima Building and Design Group has started building a new transparent barrier film production plant for Toppan Printing in Griffin. Minnesota Knutson Construction Services is about to start building the Mayo Civic Center addition. The two-story, 200,000-sq-ft convention center addition will include a black box theater with seating for 150-200, ballroom/banquet facilities, reconfiguration of existing walls, dressing room upgrades and new stage lighting/rigging/catwalk systems. Rhode Island Deepwater Wind Holdings LLC has given Alstom formal notice to proceed on the 30-MW Deepwater Wind Farm, located three miles southeast of Block Island. The project will consist of five turbines and transmission cables running approximately 20 miles underwater to Narragansett. Gulf Island Fabrication will build the steel latticework foundations for the turbines, while Alstom will supply the turbines. The turbines will be about 600 ft tall. Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2015 and be completed by late 2016. The project is valued at $225 million. New Mexico 4/2 Lea County is seeking design proposals for a terminal expansion at the Lea County Regional Airport. The terminal will be expanded to 20,000 sq ft from 4,560 sq ft and consist of airline operations/ticketing, security spaces, departure facilities, baggage claim, rental car counters, restrooms, administrative offices and restaurant vendor space.
