With a new water resources development act mired in the Senate for months, industry is trying to convince Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) to bring the measure to the floor for a vote. The National Waterways Conference wants its supporters to phone the Senate April 26 to urge floor action on the bill. The Environment and Public Works Committee cleared a WRDA measure in April 2005. The House passed its version in July. Each would authorize about $12 billion for Corps of Engineers projects.
