69th Street was converted from a two-lane gravel road to a multi-lane urban roadway.

The $11.1-million improvement project reconstructed 1.5 miles of 69th Street on the growing southeastern edge of Sioux Falls, S.D. The street was converted from a two-lane gravel road to a multilane urban roadway that will meet anticipated growing traffic demands and improve public safety.

The project's major features included an urban four-lane section with sidewalks, a new bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad lines, a roundabout at the intersection of 69th Street and Southeastern Avenue and mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls with aesthetic enhancements.
