Plump says the combined weight of the shuttle is approximately 175,000 lbs and the transporter approximately 375,000 lbs.

The transporter vehicle will be traveling at a speed of 2 mi per hour, which will place it at the science center by 8 p.m. on Oct. 13, according to the center.

With trees being a major public concern, the center and a host of donors have offered to replace the trees that have been removed (most because of their age and health and others by the cities’ master plans and the new LA Metro route). ValleyCrest Landscape is donating most of the 476 replacement trees and will also provide free maintenance until the trees are established.

Other industry donors to the center’s fundraising program include AEG, Parsons Corp., Psomas and Sarens Group.
