Judges ruled the lower court wrongly blocked developers from obtaining a needed state permit for the proposed high-voltage power line project, set to move onshore wind energy more than 200 miles across southern Illinois.

Developer said it would continue forward on the estimated $7-billion to $11-billion midwest transmission project by securing capital through other sources

Firms' newly awarded contracts for work on Grain Belt Express high-voltage line's 530-mile first phase total nearly $1.7 billion. 

Invenergy Transmission plans to appeal the decision and is working to start construction next year on a separate portion of the total 800-mile line that is located in Kansas and Missouri.
