The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was formally started in 1971 after the act was signed into law by President Nixon. Over the years significant strides have led to a 66% reduction in work place fatalities, but the workforce nearly doubled at the same time (according to the U. S. Department of Labor). However, there were still 4,679 people who didn’t go home because of their death on the job!
The key to worker safety is twofold:
- Know the rules to do your job safely.
- Obey the rules to do your job safely.
Simple enough, but this is where “safety culture” comes in, going from having to work safe to valuing safe work. Join us for a webinar that will explore the basic function of OSHA, what to do when OSHA comes to your facility, and discuss the keys to building a successful safe work culture that carries over to every aspect of daily living. Plus we will provide real work situations where safety triumphed over the pressure to get the job done.
