Suffolk Construction Co. held a "virtual" groundbreaking for its 38,000 sq-ft addition to its Boston headquarters on Thursday. During the ceremony, city officials and executives from Suffolk donned virtually reality headsets to view and animation of the groundbreaking as well as a virtual model rendering of the project being erected.
An industry veteran and safety expert has chosen the winners of ENR New England’s Excellence in Safety Awards. The award is part of the Best Projects 2016 competition that will be profiled in more depth in the November issue of ENR New England. The winners will also be honored at an awards banquets on Dec. 8 in Boston.

A day after releasing renderings for its new global headquarters in Boston’s Fort Point Channel on Monday, General Electric will present its plans to the public on Tuesday night. Designed by Gensler, the new 2.4-acre campus located at 6 Necco Court will include two rehabilitated historic brick buildings and a newly constructed 12-story building connected by a bridge and a pedestrian walkway.

The Boston Landmarks Commission voted Tuesday night to give Boston's iconic Citgo sign preliminary landmark status. The vote means that any building plans for the building would be subjected to voluntary design review by the Landmarks Commission.
