Hello. I am Peter Maloney, and this blog is the first in my new capacity as the editor of ENR New York. I come to ENR through a common link with ENR's former parent company, McGraw-Hill.  I previously covered construction related issues in the power sector as a writer and editor for Platts. 

I always enjoyed the steel-in-the-ground aspects of the power sector and look forward to meeting and working with an even wider array of construction industry professionals in my new capacity with ENR.

The May 25 issue of ENR New York will feature the annual ranking of the Top Design Firms in the NY-NJ region. A preliminary analysis shows that regional revenue of the top firms rose significantly, nearly 20% to $4.79 billion in 2014, from $3.91 billion in 2013. 

In part, that rise reflects strong merger and acquisition activity in the region. AECOM bought URS Corp. in 2014 and earlier in the year bought Hunt Construction. WSP was also busy, with its acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff, and ARCADIS purchased architect Callison.
