So many construction professionals have told me that they now travel with a tablet and do most of their reading on it. Starting with this issue, the full Engineering News-Record magazine experience can be an important part of that reading.

ENR’s goal is to deliver the news, data, analysis and commentary that can help you do your job most effectively. We want to deliver this content in the format that is most convenient for you: the print magazine, the ENR.com website or our series of electronic newsletters, webinars and in-person events—and now, a tablet app that you can download on your Apple or Android device starting Monday March 3. The tablet app is an added value for ENR subscribers at no additional charge. The app will combine features of the print edition and the website. On page 12 of the March 3 print issue, for example, we direct you to ENR.com to see a video of the record-setting continuous concrete pour in Los Angeles. In the app, that video will play right on the page.

ENR Managing Editor Erin Joyce, editorial lead for the project, says the goal is to deliver a user-friendly experience for readers at launch. “We will be adding additional enhancements and unique content experiences in the coming months,” she says.

As director of client marketing operations for McGraw Hill Construction, ENR’s parent, Michael Atwood led the app development team. “This entire project has been driven by our readers. More than 4,000 people responded to a subscriber study conducted last spring. Overwhelmingly, our audience indicated they want digital access to ENR optimized for tablet and mobile devices. ENR Digital Editions provide interactive opportunities for our advertisers, as well,” he says.

We are delighted to launch the app in conjunction with our CONEXPO preview issue and invite you to follow our editors as they explore the latest trends in construction equipment in Las Vegas on March 4-7. Video, photos, stories, blogs and tweets will be gathered on a special landing page online. If you are attending, you can add tweets to the page about your favorite exhibits by using the hashtag #conexpo.
