The construction team faced an aggressive schedule to deliver the new Nathan Deal Campus of Innovation, which features the Hull McKnight Building and the Shaffer McCarthy Building.

Few doubted the need to replace the 70-year-old, low-level steel truss swing bridge spanning the Intracoastal Waterway. 

This 20,000-sq-ft collaborative learning facility, designed by Arquitectonica and built by Coastal Construction, features a large open floor plan that enables up to 130 students to use the building’s fabrications lab, workstations, presentation areas, review spaces and offices.

Just as construction was underway, the state instituted regulatory changes that forced a redesign of the original 183,000-sq-ft plan.
