New industry research shows that while many large U.S. construction firms have created and maintained effective safety cultures, a high percentage of smaller firms are lagging behind in making critical safety investments and adopting formal procedures.
As an architect focusing on health-care design with the firm Francis Cauffman, Thompson sees growth in that sector due to “hospitals designing new spaces around the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, providing enhanced care for an aging population and needing to upgrade aging infrastructure.”
“People are relocating to Colorado in dramatic numbers. Population expansion increases not only demand for housing, services and workspaces but also increases demand on our infrastructure systems,” Elizabeth Stolfus says.
“The Bay Area continues to grow both in terms of residential as well as industry, coupled with a spatial diversification of work locations and corporate headquarters,” Louis Armstrong says.
Construction information service provider Dodge Data & Analytics is taking a new tack to provide intelligence to the construction and building-product manufacturing industries.
The dollar value of total construction starts jumped 10% in February from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $667.6 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics.
