Integrated project delivery enabled this two-story, 98,800-sq-ft medical office building to be completed on schedule and under budget amid lingering challenges with material shortages and rising costs.
This 355,000-sq-ft, six-story greenfield hospital provides 129 private inpatient beds, a labor and delivery department, an emergency department, complete medical and surgical capabilities and imaging and lab services.
“We’re in the best position we’ve ever been,” Barton Malow Builders’ COO Todd Ketola says of the company’s standing in the Southeast construction market. And judging by Barton Malow’s 2022 performance in the region, that sentiment seems well justified.
The first project built under an integrated project delivery method in Nebraska and one of the largest IPD projects in the U.S., the owner, architect and the construction manager worked collaboratively on the Hubbard Center through design and preconstruction to provide real-time estimating that saved $50 million and reduced the schedule by 40 days.
Racing against time and the spread of COVID-19, the project team designed, permitted and built the 20-bed, 12,800-sq-ft patient-ready addition in just four months.
Located in rural northeastern California, the three-building, 28,000-sq-ft hospital complex is a critical access facility serving a 4,500-sq-mile area.
