Autodesk and Tongji University, Shanghai, China, recently signed a memorandum to jointly establish a Center for Sustainable Design which would focus on areas such as the digital city, architectural design, multi-media and machinery manufacturing. According to the plan, Autodesk Inc., San Raphael, Calif., will provide software and technical services worth $14.7 million. In the past 10 years, Autodesk has established more than 10 “Centers of Excellence” with leading Chinese universities, including Tsinghua, Tongji, Harbin Industrial Institute and Shanghai JiaoTong University. In 2008, Autodesk worked with the education ministry and launched students.autodesk.com.cn, which offers free design tools to students in China.
