JS Link America is planning to construct a rare earth permanent magnets manufacturing plant at the Muscogee Technology Park in Columbus. The project scope includes construction of a 130,000-sq-ft building; installation of melting and sintering furnaces; and purchase and installation of conveyors, sintering presses, cutting machines, a cooling tower and mixing, milling, shaping, heat treatment, coating, testing and packaging equipment and systems. The plant will have the capacity to produce 3,000 tons of rare earth permanent magnets per year. Site grading is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 or early first quarter of 2026. Indiana
Simtra BioPharma Solutions is planning to construct a second pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Bloomington, on a 65-acre site near its existing facility. The project scope includes construction of 300,000 sq ft of building space with cleanrooms; installation of isolator-based vial and syringe filling lines; and purchase and installation of stainless steel piping, fume hoods and wet laboratory, filtration, testing, sterilization, labeling, packaging and cold storage equipment. The plant will provide contract development and manufacturing services for prefilled, injectable, antibody-drug conjugates for oncology and other fields. Kimley Horn is providing civil engineering services. A construction schedule is being developed; demolition of the former General Electric plant at the site is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. Minnesota
Pulsar Helium is planning to construct a helium extraction and processing plant near Babbitt. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; installation of separation, evaporation, liquefaction, compression, cryogenic purification and carbon dioxide capture equipment and systems; and purchase and installation of supporting equipment. Chart Industries was selected to provide engineering and equipment for the helium and CO₂ processing plants. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
