Hamakua Energy LLC is considering repowering its 60-MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant in Honoka’a, converting it to biomass-fired and constructing a battery energy storage system at the site. The project scope includes design and construction of biomass handling and processing facilities; retrofit or replacement of the boiler; and purchase and installation of battery storage units. It will have the capacity to store 7.5 MW of power. A construction schedule is being developed; project completion is expected in 2030. Hamakua Energy LLC is a subsidiary of Pacific Current. ILLINOIS
Primient is planning to expand production capacity and modernize its food ingredients plant in Decatur. The project scope includes upgrades to the feed, germ and drying processes; improvements to syrup refining reliability and efficiency; and purchase and installation of stainless steel tanks. Project implementation will be phased through 2029. Primient uses the facility to produce plant-based food and industrial ingredients. The estimated EPC cost is $400 million. Primient, 2200 E. NORTH CAROLINA
SCHOTT Pharma USA Inc. is planning to construct a pharmaceutical syringe manufacturing plant in Wilson. The project scope includes design and construction of building space with cleanrooms; and purchase and installation of stainless steel piping. WASHINGTON
ROCKWOOL North America is planning to construct a stone wool insulation manufacturing plant on a 250-acre site at the Wallula Gap Business Park in Wallula. The project scope includes design and construction of building space and equipment foundations, and purchase and installation of a furnace, cooling towers, storage silos, conveyors, hoppers, spinning, curing and drying ovens, storage and mixing tanks, and cutting, marking and packing equipment.
