ARKANSAS

Tyson Foods Inc. is planning to construct a Tyson Hatchery at the Clarksville Industrial Park in Clarksville. The single-story, 110,000-sq-ft building will house an incubation center to replace the existing hatchery. Construction is expected to start in January 2024. CONNECTICUT

Yale University is planning to build the Yale Physical Science and Engineering Building on its campus in New Haven. The seven-story, 600,000-sq-ft building will contain 253,000 sq ft of laboratory space for quantum science, engineering and materials research, and a 220-space parking garage. Ballinger has been selected as the architect, and Turner Construction as the construction manager-at-risk. Construction is expected to begin in April 2024 and be completed by July 2029. KANSAS

The City of Hays is planning to construct a 65-mile-long, 20-in-dia water pipeline to transfer water from the R-9 Ranch wellfield in Edwards County to the City of Hays Schoenchen wellfield in Ellis County. In the 1990s, the cities of Hays and Russell bought the 6,700-acre R-9 Ranch, located southwest of Kinsley in Edwards County, along the Arkansas River. The ranch has 8,000 acre-ft of water rights, and the property and its underlying alluvial aquifer carries the potential of providing 4,800 acre ft of sustainable water annually. NEVADA

Grand Sierra Resort is planning to construct the Grand Sierra Resort Nevada Arena in Reno. The 300,000-sq-ft, 10,600-seat facility will host the University of Nevada men’s basketball team and also concerts and other sports events. GEORGIA

Clark Construction Group LLC and Winter Construction Co. have started building 340 East Paces Ferry Buckhead Village Apartment Tower in Atlanta. The 22-story, 740,000-sq-ft building will contain 483 units, 16,400 sq ft of retail space, and 124 parking spaces. It has been designed by Niles Bolton Associates Inc., and the developer is CA Ventures. The project is valued at $136 million. NORTH CAROLINA

The North Carolina Dept. of Transportation is planning to replace the Alligator River Bridge in Columbia. The new bridge will replace the existing swing-span bridge with a modern two-lane, fixed-span high-rise bridge on a new location, just north of the current bridge. The new bridge will also include two 12-ft travel lanes with 8-ft breakdown lanes. It is being designed by Modjeski and Masters. Proposals for CM-at-Risk and GC services have been received and are under review. Construction is expected to start in September 2024 and be completed by July 2027. PENNSYLVANIA

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating submitted bids from firms seeking to construct a new lock chamber at the Montgomery Locks Dam in Monaca. The project entails constructing the in-water combination wall; demolishing the upper and lower guard walls; constructing foundation drilled shafts and in-the-wet monoliths; constructing a cofferdam; dewatering the coffer area; and constructing in-the-dry monoliths. 11/21 Pence Contractors, the construction manager-at-risk, is seeking subcontractor bidders to build the Deschutes County Courthouse Expansion in Bend. The project entails building a three-story, 55,000-sq-ft addition, which will tie into the existing building on at least two levels. LRS Architects has been chosen as the designer. COLORADO

1/23/24 Montezuma Water Co. is seeking bidders to carry out a water treatment plant expansion project. The project involves building a new raw water pump station and wet well; replacing existing raw water pumps; constructing a new treatment plant; and installing new finished water pumps in the existing building. The 2-mgd new treatment plant includes a below-grade concrete chlorine contact basin, an 8,000-sq-ft pre-engineered metal building, package treatment equipment, chemical storage, restroom, and process piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls.
