Capital Hall Partners and Spaulding & Slye Investments are planning to build Gateway Innovation Center Lab/R&D/Office/Garage Building A in Somerville. The 12-story, 763,000-sq-ft building will contain 368,000 sq ft of office and research and development space; 388,000 sq ft of lab space and 556 parking spaces. It is being designed by Stantec. NEW YORK

New York Transco and the New York State Power Authority are planning to construct the Propel NY Energy Transmission Network. The network will be a 90-mile branching network of electric transmission lines and new and upgraded substations to deliver offshore wind energy into the statewide electric grid. It will consist of 345-kV and 135-kV underground and underwater transmission lines linking Nassau and Suffolk counties with Bronx and Westchester counties. UTAH

Greenfield Energy LLC is planning to construct the Greenfield Energy Oil Sand Remediation Plant in Vernal. The plant will be used to inject carbon dioxide into the tar sand deposit, which will assist in the enhanced recovery and then be sequestered within the geologic formation. American Bridge Canada Co. has started carrying out the Wolf Creek Dam spillway gates and machinery replacement project. The project entails replacing ten spillway tainter gates and 11 gate lifting machinery setups including wire rope and drum setup, high and low-speed gear boxes, 10-hp electric motor, bull and pinion gears, and machinery base on each gate pier of the Wolf Creek Dam, located on the Cumberland River in Jamestown. MICHIGAN

Brinkmann Constructors has started building the Detroit Commerce Center. The single-story, 793,520-sq-ft building will serve as a manufacturing plant and warehouse for an auto parts supplier. The 50-acre site at 14250 Plymouth Road in Detroit was the former site of the American Motors Corp. headquarters, abandoned since 2010. The brownfield project includes demolition of the existing 2-million-sq-ft AMC building and environmental remediation. The Commerce Center has been designed by Studio North Architecture. 9/5 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bidders to carry out a dredging project at the Illinois River Basin Starved Rock Pool. The work involves access dredging, stone placement, surveying, seeding and site restoration in the Illinois River Basin, between River Miles 233 and 234, upstream of Starved Rock Lock and Dam near Utica. 9/12 The City of Seguin is seeking bidders to carry out the expansion of the Geronimo Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the decommissioning of the Walnut Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project will expand the Geronimo Creek plant capacity to 12 million gallons per day from 5.54 million gallons per day. It will include constructing a raw sewage lift station at the Walnut Branch site and a nearly 3-mile double-barrel force main to convey the wastewater to the Geronimo wastewater facility for treatment. It will also include four aeration basins, three final clarifiers, two chlorine contact basins, conversion of existing structures to aerobic digestion and gravity thickening.
